Power Generation

We have been a “total engineering” business ever since our founding in 1927. That means we do more than just offer measuring, control, and information instruments and devices. We also provide consulting, maintenance, and personnel training services. As such, we have helped many power-generation plants around the world to keep their operations stable, improve productivity, and avoid downtime.
Furthermore, we also advise our customers about solutions and provide support services based on a thoroughgoing understanding of what makes power-generating equipment unique in such diverse fields as thermal, hydroelectric, and nuclear power. We have also been proactive in our efforts to develop new products for the field of renewable energy including wind, geothermal, and wave power. This is an area in which demand has been rising due to concerns over global warming and energy problems.
Power generation products are not one-size-fits-all goods suited for any and all operating environments and specifications. We provide solutions that are optimized to address issues specific to every one of our customers.

Thermal power customers who rely on our equipment can anticipate getting a complete vibration monitoring system that covers their entire plant. We offer flexible solutions optimized to your situation, whether you are building a new power plant, updating an existing facility, or need to increase monitoring of the conditions of aging equipment.

In the hydroelectric power field, the systems and solutions we offer make the most of its possibilities as a source of renewable energy. Our products are suited to everything from power plant operations and maintenance to improving administrative task efficiency, optimizing facilities, and addressing environmental management strategies.

Interest in and demand for renewable energy is on the rise. We help our customers working in the field to supply clean energy and maintain stability of their operations with vibration monitoring systems adapted to the unique environment and installation requirements of geothermal power generation.

Wind power is being adopted around the world as a way to get safe energy without releasing carbon dioxide. In this field, too, we have been helping customers to establish and operate facilities with vibration monitoring systems that are adapted to local conditions, such as for power generating equipment being installed on high ground.

Our condition monitoring systems are utilized at nuclear power plants to monitor the condition of critical machines such as steam turbine generators and reactor internal pumps or PLR pumps. We help our customers to ensure that their plants are safe and reliable.

Oil and gas plants have diverse needs when it comes to the operation of their equipment. Plant operators want to improve efficiency and productivity, avoid downtime, and keep their workers safe. We help to keep their plants operating safely with vibration monitoring equipment installed at the compressors and turbines for driving compressors. We also help them to set up explosion-proof areas. The wireless and remote monitoring systems we provide are compliant with the ISA 100 Wireless Standard and other communication standards. They are particularly well-suited for use at plants with huge grounds that require monitoring. Meanwhile, our compact, lightweight, and easily carried portable vibration analysis systems can be used for facilities and equipment that do not have such systems in place. These systems can collect data during start-up and shutdown, and can also detect when abnormal vibrations occur. Anomalies can be analyzed with these systems, and thus our customers can efficiently prevent deadly accidents at their rotating machinery.

Our equipment helps maintain stability and improves productivity at offshore plants by monitoring vibrations in the turbines for electricity self-generation and main oil pump that handle digging, pumping, storing, and shipping operations, and the gas compressors.

Our equipment effectively minimizes downtime and reduces HSE risks in harsh environments by monitoring vibrations in compressors associated with pumping, storage, and shipping operations and on muddy water circulation pumps.

Our customers avoid downtime and easily keep an eye on their facilities 24/7 through remote monitoring of pipelines that are enormously long and cover a broad area and through vibration monitoring at storing and pumping facilities that use booster pumps.

Our vibration monitoring systems help to maintain the stable operation of booster pumps used for loading and shipping. That allows them to provide reliable production under conditions where the volumes of production vary wildly all the time.

We have developed special sensor materials that allow our non-contact displacement sensors to minimize temperature drift and realize long-term stability. Moreover, our sensors offer superb environmental durability in the face of harsh conditions that include both high and low temperatures as well as high pressures.
We have accumulated a sizable track record by customizing these devices precisely to match our customers’ needs and usage environments. The applications have ranged from monitoring production equipment and product quality control to use in laboratory and research settings. These products have contributed to society in settings and fields that include the cutting-edge space industry, to automobiles, to such mission-critical parts of the social infrastructure as railways, to the factory floors of the manufacturing industry.

Our products have been adopted as shaft vibration and axial position sensors for the liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen turbo pumps on rocket engines, where pressures are high and the temperature characteristics range from ordinary temperatures to the extreme lows of -253°C. These systems collect data on shaft vibration and axial positions from the engine development stage to the engine tests that are performed just prior to launch.

Thanks to their stability and the repeatability of their results under a wide range of operating temperatures, our sensors have been adopted for measuring oil film on automobile crankshafts and the thickness of rubber sheets in the manufacturing process. These parts may be small, but in an industry where all parts and machinery are directly linked to the driver’s safety, people have enormous trust in our technology.

Our sensors are used on railway inspection cars, which maintain the safety of bullet and other high-speed trains. They measure the tracks and the irregularities in track alignment (lengthwise bumps on the rail track surface) that influence travelling performance.
The maglev linear motor cars that made their first operational run in Japan in 2005 also use our sensors in their levitation control systems. These systems keep the train operating efficiently by preventing accidental contact while adjusting the gap between the car and the rail when levitating to the minimum appropriate level.
